Jodhpur is one of my favourite cities of Rajasthan - small, original
yet big in terms of progress, history, historical value
BLUE CITY
lived, grew up there,
took up every chance to go to the majestic fort -Mehrangarh, Umaid Bhawan, heard ghost stories at Mandore gardens, travelled with family to Jaisalmer, Udaipur, etc.
hogged on mirchi wada, pyaaz ki kachori

entrance gate at Ghanta Ghar |
|
The Clock Tower/Ghanta Ghar used to be the centre of a city ,
to annouce the time? cause people did not have personal watches???
During the late 80s it was full of interesting stuff - like bagdi skirts, jewelry, etc.
& this time was saw these very colorful lingere, bangles, etc.
Mehrangarh across from Ghanta Ghar

Mehrangarh Fort |
Mehrangarh Fort is super trek from Ghanta Ghar, following the gallies of the beautious blue city
& a steep uphill climb. Well worth it!
|
Ajit Bhawan upkeep in progress - he is painting the insignia on |
Ajit Bhawan the smaller palace & botique hotel, opposite the sublime Umaid Bhawan, residence of Maharaja Gaj Singh & a super luxury hotel
The streets of Jodhpur are full of aromas - tambaako leaves, lac bangles makers, flower seller, broom makers/sellers
this time a spice seller at Ghanta Ghar talked about his Vanilla farms in Orissa...
|
busy street opp. station |
|
milk man on yezdi |
|
mordernity - cineplex with mc donald, etc. |
|
spices at Ghanta Ghar area |
|
broom makers/sellers |
|
tambakoo store & smoker? |
|
inner city |
...& finally Jodhpur blues, the fort, Gangaur parade, missing a train, brooms, flowers, tambakoo, etc. lead to
an inspiration for tealight candles for Diwali
